At Charleton Farm, we want to leave a legacy for future generations by developing a love for farming and sustainable living.

We are focused on educating and inspiring all ages about agriculture, food security and the importance of preserving our natural environment. That’s why we’ve created a series of fun and engaging experiences for people to connect with nature, learn about farm life and appreciate exactly where their food comes from.

By sharing our passion and knowledge, we hope that future generations will make sustainable choices, care for nature, and continue our tradition of providing food and resources to local communities.

A Bold New Beginning
In 2020, as the world was entering lockdown, Graeme and Lisa McColl decided to take a chance on Charleton Farm. With years of experience working in hospitality and hosting events, the couple immediately saw the potential that the farm had and knew that the opportunity was too good to miss!
Starting a Family Adventure
With a love for life and a passion for all things food and family, Graeme and Lisa packed up their home and children 30 miles along the coast in 2021 and made the move to Charleton farm to pursue a new adventure.

Building a Farm Legacy

Driven by a love of people and their unique stories, Graeme and Lisa have worked tirelessly to turn Charleton Farm into a destination that rewards visitors with wholesome food, fresh local produce, a well-stocked farm shop, a variety of educational animal experiences and seasonal events.

In more recent years, they’ve also transformed the farm’s cottages into self-catered accommodation and the old barn into a beautiful, rustic event space ideal for weddings and all kinds of gatherings.

Charleton House is built

Charleton Farm is established as a working farm
1890

Charleton House was remodelled in 1892 to the designs of Sir Robert Rowand Anderson following a fire
1940-50

Charleton House is sold to Montrose Infirmary. On July 2nd 1948, Charleton Maternity Home was opened, two days prior to the inauguration of the NHS
1946

The McQuistan family arrives at Charleton Farm, with the farm set to be passed down the generations
1970-80

The maternity hospital is closed. Charleton Farm becomes a refugee centre, providing a safe haven for Vietnamese refugees

    Coming from non-farming backgrounds, Archie and Callum have found their passion for agriculture and become invaluable members of our team. Whether it’s caring for our animals, assisting with harvests or guiding visitors on tours, their hard work and dedication allows our farm to thrive.
